My name is Penny and I’m living life simply in a complicated world. I live in St. Petersburg, Florida, and I’m on a journey. Over the last 15 years or so, I’ve evolved to a simpler lifestyle, both financially, and how I live. I try to be organized, but I’m not always. I rely on lists and notes much more than I would like. This has forced me to live more simply.
Living life simply for me means everything – work, home, health, diet, exercise, sleep, downtime, self care, water intake, reading, relaxing…all the things that help make a person healthy and happy. I plan to share what I’m learning to maybe help or inspire others.
Why?
I fell off a ladder a few years back and sustained a pretty significant head injury. Through healing and working through the changes it brought into my life, I’ve discovered that there’s a whole lot I need to write down and keep track of. My short term memory just isn’t what it used to be. Of course, that could be age too, but I try not to think about that because I’m only in my 50s..early 50’s. I’m still VERY young!
The Great Pandemic of 2020, the Perfect Time to Start a Blog
The great pandemic of 2020 changed a lot of lives. I had a direct sales business and a blog that I wasn’t enjoying, and I needed a change. I just wasn’t sure what that was.
I have a day job, which I enjoy most of the time (pretty normal I think.) As with most day jobs, there are days when you just don’t enjoy it or it stresses you out, or you just don’t want to get out of bed and go face the world. I have to work with people every day. I’m a huge ass introvert and “peopling” is not something that I enjoy.
So let’s fast forward to that pandemic. Things took a turn rather quickly and the world pretty much was put on hold. We had to close our doors at work, because we weren’t considered an essential business. In doing so, it gave me an opportunity to build an online store for the business. As a result, I was able to go to work every day. I was the only one there and I had to ship orders and receive product. I really liked it because, you know, I’m a big ass introvert.
What was life going to be like after the pandemic?
I had a lot of time to ponder my future. What did I want to do with my life? One becomes a little philosophical during such times of uncertainty.
I knew that I wanted to have my own business and be self sufficient. I didn’t want to be terrified the next time a pandemic hit that I wasn’t going to get a paycheck. Because yes, I was absolutely terrified every single day we were closed and many months after. I couldn’t wrap my head around how any business could recover from having to close for a prolonged period of time. Many haven’t, and it’s heartbreaking.
One day I was enjoying one of my favorite past-times, looking for the perfect planner. I finally decided It didn’t exist. Over about 25 years I’ve tried all the big name planners, little names, and everyone in between. I’ve tried free downloads, printables, paper, digital..everything. One afternoon on the way home from work it hit me. Screw it, I should create my own planner. What a rabbit hole that has been!

My Blog and Designing Cool Stuff
I began playing with Canva and Trello. Canva is a great tool for design work. Trello is an amazing way to organize anything. After a few months. I had the beginnings of a line of printable planner pages and some Trello boards that were working really well for me.
I really didn’t want anything fancy, just simple solutions to help a gal who needs a bit of organization in their busy life.
My Blog and My Digital Shoppe
The Simply Planner Series is for the gal who needs to be more organized and needs structure to help her be successful. It’s a series of printable planner pages with multiple fonts, colors, layouts, and styles. The idea is that you print ONLY what you need. It’s now available in my digital shoppe.
The future holds a variety of printable and digital solutions to meet various business and personal needs. I mean, we have to keep juggling, right? We may as well make it easy!
